Synopsis:
1930. Zoologist Leon Jefferson has left the university in the South where he was teaching for a research job in the North. His wife who remained behind comes to visit him. He tells her that he is going to Italy to further his researches - she says she probably wont be waiting for him when he gets back. In Italy he meets Helga a German researcher who has come to Italy because women researchers are looked down on in Germany. they run out of money for their research and they turn to Lady astor for help
