Dafydd Huw James trained at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPa) and is a composer, writer and performer. My Name is Sue, which he performed and co-created with Ben Lewis, won the Total Theatre award for Music and Theatre, 2009. Recently he has translated Spring awakening for theatr Genedlaethol Cymru. His critically acclaimed play Llwyth will be co-produced by Sherman Cymru and theatr Genedlaethol Cymru as part of this year's British Council Showcase in edinburgh. He is also developing the screenplay. the Hunting of the Snark, one of his first theatrical scores, won the Cameron Mackintosh award.

Deffro'r Gwanwyn' is a story about a group of teenagers experiencing puberty and trying to break free whilst the adults around them are fighting to hold on, refusing to offer them any guidance. their curiosity leads them down a dangerous path with devastating consequences for some, and for other it will change their lives forever. Synopsis:
It's May Day, and a group of misfit children are specially chosen to close the day's festivities; but as they gather together in uniform to rehearse the village anthem, all is not well. Tubbsy's hiding a cat in his bag; Deirdre-May's grieving her Nanna and Mark's turned up as Stegosaurus. As the rehearsal breaks down, they soon begin to suspect that they've been chosen for a far darker purpose. . . Heritage is a blistering black comedy with music that explores the darker side of nationalism.

Each year the National Theatre invites ten writers to create new plays for young people to perform. This spring 230 youth theatre companies will present the premieres of these plays in Venues from Scotland to Cornwall and Northern Ireland to Norfolk. Each company will also perform at one of 26 Connections festivals in professional theatres across the country, and ten companies will go on to perform at the National Theatre. Connections celebrates great new writing for the stage  and the energy, commitment and talent of young theatre-makers.
