Mr Simian: A Plague In Lisbon Forces An Exodus

Synopsis:
The play involves five passengers, including a trained chimpanzee, en route to South America and safety on board a vessel. The desire of the "simian" to become a man, thus escaping the bonds of his cage, is the main thrust of the play. In comic and theatrical fashion, and through a series of confrontations with the extreme views of the passengers and crew, "Mr. Simian" succeeds in his metamorphosis. In symbolic fashion, he becomes the master of his own fate
