A fascinating exploration of our attraction to violence (Paines Plough Reading Report); I like the writing and the way you successfully create two different worlds (Jack Bradley, Literary Manager, National theatre); . . . a very well written and confident play. It tackles serious, "grown up" issues and has a large scope . . . very appealing. (Chelsea Centre Script report); . . . the play is interesting and is well written. (Soho theatre Script Report); the theme of the play - the inter-relationship of public charity and domestic responsibility - is a complex and subtle one. . . . I did enjoy the exploration of David and Helen's relationship. . . .(Penny Gold Script executive, Nuffield theatre, Southampton); . . .we admired your style, particularly when dealing with Helen and David who's relationship you examine with sensitivity and humour . . . . . . a fascinating exploration of our attraction to violence. (Tim Fountain, Literary Manager, Bush theatre); . . .energetically written with a potentially strong subject. (Graham Whybrow, Literary Manager, Royal Court)

In an extraordinary but true situation, Jean baptiste is about to face his former friends and allies, now his enemies, on the field of battle. Wellington has given permission for such soldiers to be placed in reserve, away from the scene of battle. Can his family persuade him to take that option? Do they want him to?
