Shock & Awe

Synopsis:
Adapted from interviews with U.S. veterans of the War in Iraq, Shock & Awe weaves individual lives to form a violent, surreal, and darkly comic tapestry. One man endures the long-distance fracturing of his family while another mounts an intense pursuit of Saddam Hussein's limousine. An Iraqi mother searches for 'someone in charge' while a soldier tries to convince the Army that he bears a mysterious wound. Taken individually, these stories are too strange to be anything but true. Taken together, they form an ensemble piece that's gripping, funny, abominable, and insane - in other words, it's war. Shock & Awe presents one of the most controversial conflicts in American history as only the people who've been there have known it.

Notes:
In 2005 and 2006, Damon DiMarco conducted interviews with U.S. veterans of the War in Iraq to write a book that eventually became Heart of War: Soldiers' Voices from the Front Lines in Iraq. Using these interviews as source material, he later wrote Shock & Awe: A Play in Two Acts. Over the course of several drafts, Shock & Awe placed as a finalist for the Princess Grace Awards (2005), a finalist for Reverie Productions Next Generation Playwright's Award in Manhattan (2008), and semi-finalist for the Julie Harris Playwright Award (2008) before selected to make its World Debut as part of the 2009 Y.E.S. Festival at Northern Kentucky University (Sandra Foreman, Artistic Director; Mike King, directing). In addition, scenes from Shock & Awe were produced around Manhattan at various Venues. Most notably, "We're Nobody" was done as part of the Fire Dept.'s acclaimed event AT WAR: American Playwrights Respond to Iraq, moderated by Janeane Garofalo and David Straithairn (2008). And "I Like to Work" won the January 2010 Manhattan Monologue Slam as performed by Garrett Hendricks. A lot of material from both Shock & Awe and Heart of War went into the screenplay "Allegiance," which Damon co-wrote with his friend Dominic Fumusa (from Showtime's "Nurse Jackie").

Shock Horror

Synopsis:
Vincent has a lot of problems. 1) He is a nervous wreck of a human being. 2) He has a severe drinking problem and 3) He's been seeing the ghost of his dead wife Lenore. Vincent and his best friend are sent by their employer to the foreboding Usher House to investigate the murder of the owner, Salieri Usher. Little does Vincent know that this night is going to change his life forever. It is a tale of mystery, romance, terror, thrills and. . .A cross dressing actor?!

Notes:
Shock Horror is A comedy horror musical based primarily on the films of Vincent Price, particularly "House on haunted hill" And the many, many Edgar Allan Poe films he made with the legendary b-movie producer/director Roger Corman. It is not A spoof or A parody of those films but rather A celebration. these films might have been cheaply made but they were stylish, gothic, scary And often darkly funny thanks to the late, great Vincent Price. So we've got everything Prices' movies had: A hero, A zero, A damsel in distress, ghosts, ghouls, murder, mayhem. "Shock Horror" is scary but At its heart A comedy. In staging it the golden rule is treat it like A very serious Drama And it will be both satisfying And incredibly funny for An Audience

Shock N Awe: Love At First Light

Synopsis:
they say 'first love' is the most intense and that the memory of it lasts a lifetime. Perhaps you are still together. Perhaps love withered and died, or sadly they did? Was your love forbidden? Or did they simply have to catch the next plane home? Questions like these revealed a set of astonishing, beautiful, heartbreaking, hilarious and life enhancing true stories which have been forged into an exhilarating collage of Drama, dance and music. From World War Two to the very passionately felt present, Love at First Light is a foolhardy rush of naivete to the head, a danger to the heart and, who knows, perhaps a sigh of some poignant wisdom come morning?

Shock Of Recognition, The

Synopsis:
breaks in on a difference of opinion between George Grizzard, an earnest young Dramatist, and Joe Silver, his matter-of-fact producer. Silver doesn't like the opening moment of Grizzard's play. a wife is having breakfast in bed and she says something to her husband, who is in the bathroom. So he comes out, jaybird naked, and yells to her. 'you know I can't hear you when the water's running.' Producer Silver doesn't think this confrontation is quite nice or necessary. author Grizzard insists that the scene is quite important-and, after all, it lasts only an instant. So a quarrel over taste develops, and a job-hunting actor, Martin Balsam, becomes involved. He eagerly begins to strip, demonstrating how he would handle the role. also involved is Melinda Dillon, the producer's secretary, who is described as 'a Bennington girl' and acts it. This is fine, light comedy.

Notes:

Come and join us in Denton's most break-neck TV studio and watch as two innocent lovebirds are torn apart by the talons of TV executive Farley Flavors, whose new television show Faith Factory will guarantee that at least one person is going to receive the shock of their life. As Doctors-and-Nurses fever takes hold of the studio, will Brad and Janet be able to escape, or will they forever be trapped behind the controlling powers of the exploitative yet oddly charismatic brother and sister pairing of TV Doctors Cosmo and Nation McKinley? Make sure that you tune in at the Kings Head Theatre during April to find out. . .

Notes:
SHOCK TREATMENT The World Stage Premiere of the Equal-Sequel to Richard O'Brien's world-famous THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.. With music by Richard Hartley and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, SHOCK TREATMENT brings together the creative power of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and presents a stunning score full of songs that make you want to get up and join in with the action and in some cases, this might be exactly what happens! Add to that Jim Sharman's original book, now adapted for the stage by Tom Crowley, and the laughs and shocks come thick and fast.

Shockheaded Peter

Synopsis:
Some background: Shockheaded Peter is inspired by the Struwwelpeter, a collection of short stories written by a German doctor named Heinrich Hoffman in 1844 to amuse his young son. Dr. Hoffman's sense of what would tickle a child's fancy is rather different than, say, Dr. Seuss's: the stories are outlandishly nasty and gruesome: unsettling little fables in which children who do not do what they are told meet frightening, violent deaths.

Shoe Biz

Synopsis:
A woman is standing in a shoe shop... and has an epiphany of sorts. She finds herself wandering through her psyche as she grapples with the unresolved tensions of her sexual identity. Love, lust and the desire for security vie for dominance and the protagonist, known only as the Woman, must make her choice. Shoe Biz is a short work that depicts familiar situations in unfamiliar ways. It is expressionistic rather than realistic, and employs movement, light and sound as well as the spoken word.

Shoe Booties

Synopsis:
West takes place inside the Shubert theatre in Los Angeles, California. Ian, who once left his home town of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to pursue an acting career, has invited his brother and two friends to the opening of a long awaited musical revival. Since Ian has managed to gain some success in his new founded career, he is very concerned with his public image. It's really too bad for him though, for things get quite hectic when Ian's brother takes a handful of muscle relaxers, his best friend crashes his new car and brings the steering wheel in with her (the Club attached), and (whoops) his fiancee manages to shove Harrison Ford down an escalator. Oh, yeah, and what the heck does Bea arthur have to do with all this?"Shote Booties" was first produced by the In-Between Work Players at theatre Unlimited in Hollywood, California in 1996 under the title " West of Pelican Rapids." In 1997, a high school in Minnesota produced the show, and since then West has been performed twice at Griffiths Middle School in Downey, California. the In-Between Work Players produced it once more in the summer of 1999. This is a very easy show to stage with a hassle free set.

Shoe-Horn Sonata, The

Shoe-Horn Sonata, The
In 1945 Sheila and Bridie were freed from a Japanese POW camp in the jungles of Sumatra where thousands of women and children had lived and died virtually forgotten by their own governments. Now, after being separated for half a century, the filming of a television documentary forces them to relive the past, contact the present and question the future. Woven into their fifty years of separation are a shoe-horn and the threads of loyalty and love which form their 'uncommon bond'

Shoemaker's Incredible Wife, The

Synopsis:
the play tells the story of a combustible young woman and a staid old man, locked together in a marriage of tragicomic misery. eventually, the husband can bear his besieged life no longer and heeds his wife's apparently heartfelt wish that he should leave her. But with her husband departed, the young wife performs an astonishing volte face, and apparently discovers a hitherto unimaginable depth of feeling for the absent man. She holds off a variety of suitors and keeps the flame of marital memory burning bright, until one day, a travelling puppet show arrives in the village, with a puppeteer who bears a striking resemblance to her long-lost husband. . .
