Nimby

Synopsis:
James and Bea live in ethically-responsible harmony in their beautiful, self-built family home. With their forest-friendly pinewood floors and their commitment to airmile-free avocados, they have an admirably balanced setup. But unbeknownst to them the balance is about to tip. . ..the deeds to their back garden belong to George George, an enigmatic man who was once prolifically fertile, but more recently, is dead. When his estranged, and in some cases just strange, children come knocking with their own plans for the land, their idyllic home soon becomes a playground for society's undesirables. For James and Bea it's all fine in principle but: Not In My Back Yard. A new comedy by Lola Stephenson that explores what happens when people are forced to choose between their morals and their own quality of life.

Shotgun Civil Partnership In the Rose Garden

Synopsis:
theatre503 present a series of short plays which riff on the theme of "Coalition" - both in that they are all products of collaborations between playwrights and artists of other disciplines, and in that they all address in one way or another the new age of coalition government in which we find ourselves. You might say that a theatrical exploration of the current political situation could have come a little sooner; but coinciding as it does with the student riots and the general reaction to the October cuts, this project feels incredibly vital. there are ten pieces of work, split into a Blue Group and a Yellow Group (for Tories and Lib Dems, of course), which perform on alternate nights.
