Last Story, The
Synopsis:
In this award-winning drama about the "last" Adam and Eve, Celan illustrates the never-ending and unavailing quest for paradisiacal harmony between a man and a woman. In a powerful verbal war between The Woman and The Man-a couple on the verge of a break-up-phrases filled with heavy emotion explode while a striking parable of the battle of the sexes develops. Both, fighting like a lion and lioness, are caught in a cage called marriage. The Last Story is a postmodern European version of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?".

Yard Sale: New Footfalls
Synopsis:
the performance Yard Sale: New Footfalls. . ., based on Kaca Celan's play New Footfalls(a remake of Samuel Beckett's Footfalls) is a symphony for two voices and one body put into one installation. It symbolizes the absurdity of the repetition of fates by means of two confronting monologues by the Mother and the Daughter shown in solemn moments of the ritual Drama. these two have been thrust into the historic-cultural background, leaving the leading roles to the chronically absent Father and the suffering Son. With this performance the relationship between mother and daughter is opened up like Pandora's box and reveals tireless ghosts showing that there is still enough metaphysics within the damned female biology. New Footfalls, translated from the original German by Tajna Tanovic, presents the exiled Mother and Daughter who take over the identity not only of Beckett's heroines but also of his complicated postmodern artistic work, the open testament containing the theological, existential, political and psychoanalytical keys to understanding. the absurd situation of the 'ghosts' in Beckett's play becomes the reality of the exile. . ..the artistic past taken over is the means to avoid the presence

Woyzeck von Sarajevo
Synopsis:
The play takes place in occupied Sarajevo, where, as Susan Sontag claimed, the 20th century began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and with the occupation of 1992 it ended there. After the performance of the play "Woyzeck" by Georg Buechner, instead of celebrating a successful premiere, the actors are drafted and forced to the battlefield. Our hero (the actor playing Woyzeck) relives the horrors of his character's destiny through a heightened reality; after returning to the city to celebrate the birth of his son born in exile, he loses both his legs to grenades falling on Sarajevo. And because "the future is always worse than the past", "Woyzeck" chooses suicide. While in German exile, his "Marie", despite wartime circumstances, makes the decision to visit him, unaware of his fate. The play ends with the monologue of "Woyzeck's" mother telling her grandson a horrific fairytale about a country with more history than can be endured by a human.
Notes:
Original Playwright - Kaca Celan. Woyzeck von Sarajevo was written in German in 1996 by Kaca Celan, the founder and artistic director of Theater TAS.
