Synopsis:
What rules us? Our genes or our 'free will'? In partnership with CPT, the acclaimed theatre company Undercurrent research and develop an electrifying new theatre production exploring the motives behind kindness, culminating in two work-in-progress performances. In 1970s London, George Price, a self-taught evolutionary theorist, became the first person to express altruism in a mathematical equation. A matter of months later, driven mad (some say) by the implications of his own research, he was dead by his own hand in a flat in Tolmers Square, behind where CPT now stands. This new work will share the man, his work and extraordinary life. Watching Price wrestle with his theory and thoughts, and ultimately falling victim to them, will invite us all to examine our own understanding of acts of kindness in these austere times.
