Brenda Withers is a writer and actor. She is a founder of Lucid Theater (My Heart Split in Two, The Macguffin?), the co-writer of Matt & Ben (PS 122), and a former fellow of the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France. She has worked with companies like GEva Theatre Center, Hoi Polloi, the Folger, Hartford Stage, HERE, McCarter, Square Product Theatre, and Amphibian Stage Productions where her play The Ding Dongs (or What is the Penalty in Portugal?) was presented and for whom she is currently penning an adaptation of Don Quixote. She studied drama and religion at Dartmouth College. Synopsis:
The Billingsgate Project follows a team of amateur historians as they try to piece together an evening of historical entertainment. Focusing on the early 20th century dissolution of the once-thriving colony on Wellfleet's Billingsgate Island, the play explores our culture's relationship with nostalgia, narrative, and authenticity, and considers the side effects that historical attachments can have on our contemporary lives
