Literary Agent:    n/a

In the 1970's Chris Adams wrote scripts and songs for BBC Schools Radio programmes. He then teamed up with Michael Sullivan to write scripts and sketches for the BBC Childrens' Television programmes "PLaY SCHOOL" and "PLaY aWaY". This led them to set up YOUNGSONG MUSIC to publish their songs in sheet music form; and also to publish complete musical plays for young people to perform. By the late 1980's these musicals were being performed by schools and youth groups all over Britain and abroad; and in 1990 CHeSTeR MUSIC took over their catalogue. However, Chris Adams has continued to write and publish independently, and in 2005 started writing one-act plays for the all england Theatre Festival, and a couple of these have won awards in the competition. He continues to write full-length and one-act plays as well as songs for various Theatre productions.

In Great Grandmother's Day

Synopsis:
the story is set in a small village just before the First World War, and is based loosely on what happened in Burston, Norfolk between 1910 and 1914. the husband of the headmistress of the village school, also a teacher there, organizes the agricultural labourers to take over the Parish Council, and this results in the headmistress and her husband being dismissed. the children feel this unfair and go on strike, and a separate "strike school" is set up, and eventually recognized by the authorities. the play concentrates on the effect this has upon the relationships between the children - how friendships are created and destroyed and family loyalties tested. the relevance of the general social unrest of the time is also indicated by means of songs concerning the suffragettes, the Trade Unions and the birth of the Labour Party. there are thirteen songs, and recorder parts are provided in the score.
