Bread On The Table
Synopsis:
Playwrights Inua Ellams, Neil LaBute, Bola Agbaje, Clare Bayley, Lydia Adetunji and Pedro Miguel Rozo have joined forces with a team of scientists to present the world premiere of Mouthful, a series of plays tackling the global food crisis, at the Trafalgar Studios in September. Forming the centrepiece of Metta Theatre's 10th anniversary celebrations, the project follows four very different individuals. Sebastian is travelling to Nigeria in search of his steak-loving missing friend, GoGo is sacrificing everything for a glass of water, Erica is trying to win her daughter's affections with the rare delicacy of the last potato and Rashida just wants to eat her chocolate bar in peace. Directed by Poppy Burton-Morgan, the politically provocative piece was produced in collaboration with six of the world's top scientists Professors Tim Benton, Kamal Bawa, Suzanne Filteau, Ilkka Hanski, Molly Jahn and Tim Lang and aims to explore the global food crisis in a theatrically imaginative production. Talking about the project, Professor Benton, UK Champion for Global Food Security, said: "Our food impacts on our health and well-being, the planet's well-being and our eating habits affect the livelihoods of others throughout the world. Mouthful innovatively explores our food system and the way our demand may affect our futures."

Calculating Kindness
Synopsis:
Explores the extraordinary life of American scientist George Price (1922-75), who lived yards from CPT in Tolmers Square. Price formulated an equation widely acknowledged as the mathematical explanation for the evolution of altruism - something science had been trying to do since Darwin. The magnitude of this discovery shook Price's atheism to the core. Three years later, Price was discovered in a squat having taken his own life.

Fixer
Chuks wants to run a bar. He wants to make money and send it to his family. But Chuks used to be a fixer, a go-between for foreign journalists and local groups. When militants attack a new oil pipeline, British journalists and international spin doctors rush to the scene: everyone wants the inside story. as more players get involved, the stakes get higher. they'll make it worth his while, but if Chuks joins the game, will he ever be able to leave? What am I supposed to do? When everything is stinking like shit, you think only me I will smell like perfume? Set in northern Nigeria against a backdrop of global turmoil and corruption, Fixer is a fast-paced Drama that asks questions about integrity, loyalty and the price of human life.
