3C
the war in Vietnam is over and Brad, an ex-serviceman, lands in L.a. to start a new life. When he winds up trashed in Connie and Linda's kitchen after a wild night of partying, the three strike a deal for an arrangement that has hilarious and devastating consequences for everyone. Or are they non-consequences? Inspired by 1970s sitcoms, 1950s existentialist comedy, Chekhov and disco anthems, 3C is a terrifying, yet amusing, look at a culture that likes to amuse itself, even as it teeters on the brink of ruin.
Notes:
"We of the Dramatists Guild of America wholeheartedly support playwright David Adjmi who has been facing pressure to silence his play "3C". His work is A darkly comic parody of the sitcom "Three's Company", intended to critique the show And the social mores underlying it. the copyright owners of that work have written A "cease And desist" letter, which would, in effect, require him to stick the play in A drawer forever. But works of parody Are protected under the "fair use" doctrine of copyright law, because such works serve As valuable social criticism. Corporate interests may prefer not to have their properties targeted for mockery, but Artists have the right to do so, regardless of the best bullying tactics that corporate profits can buy. And more than having the right to do so, Artists have An obligation to critique the vestments of our culture. So we stand with Mr. Adjmi, And Are in discussions with him to see what Assistance he might require. We hope others will show their support for David As well. Because, by so doing, we demonstrate that culture is too important to be controlled solely by the corporations that claim to own it."
Stephen Schwartz, President, Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., 23 July 2012.
On Monday, October 26, 2015, The Arts Integrity Initiative at The New School College of Performing Arts, School of Drama is honored to present the first public reading of David Adjmi's 3C, following the play's landmark copyright victory in April of 2015. Directed by Jackson Gay, this is the first public performance of 3C following the important legal decision. After its premiere at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in June 2012, the play was unable to be performed or published due to a claim of copyright interference which lasted for nearly three years. The Guild and the DLDF were both involved in the legal proceedings that led to Adjmi's vindication in court.

Elective Affinities
a post September 11 monologue in which an upper crust American matron takes tea and proceeds to the chilling as she outlines her belief that it is "hubris" to assume that humans have innate value, and that torture is therefore a wholly suitable response to terror.

Evildoers, The
The unmistakable playwright of Stunning, David Adjmi, offers a new fierce and furious play about intimate human relationships. Carol and Jerry celebrate their anniversary with friends Martin and Judy. But an evening of haute cuisine and expensive wine is cut short when Martin, no longer able to repress years of frustration, lashes out at the people he loves. Soon, the facade of their pristine American lives shatters. With ferocious humor and violent turns, David Adjmi's searing drama lays bare the vast desolation that lies beneath a quiet dinner with friends.

How's a queen to keep her head in the middle of a revolution? Marie Antoinette delights and inspires her French subjects with her three-foot tall wigs and extravagant haute couture. But times change and even the most fashionable queens go out of style.
