Nick is a writer on Emmerdale having joined the programme in December 2013. He is also a theatre writer, journalist and broadcaster. Selected as one of the BBC's Four Northern Voices in 2011, Nick was paired with mentor Lisa Holdsworth and was funded to spend 12 months developing an original TV script. Nick trained as a theatre director with London-based Asian theatre company Tamasha (East is East) and has written and directed five short films which have been shown at festivals around the UK. His debut stage play Nor Any Drop produced by Oldham theatre company Peshkar and Leeds theatre company Red Ladder toured northern schools in 2012. With his own company WhereYouFrom he wrote and directed A Muslamic Love Story, which premiered at Bradford's Theatre in the Mill in 2012 and returned to the venue for a sell-out run in November 2013. Nick was arts editor of the Yorkshire Post for 10 years from 2004. He continues to write for the newspaper and other publications as a theatre critic. He regularly presents shows for BBC Radio Leeds
