Stairway To Heaven

Synopsis:
the play is a rock'n roll fantasy exploring the fragility of friendship amid the baggage of the past. Dai, Harley and Merv the Swerv are childhood friends who grow up to be a fighter pilot, a saxophone player and a motorbike mechanic. When the Gulf War erupts and Dai, the fighter pilot, becomes involved, their friendship implodes, and then when he dies, it is completely shattered. When he returns as a genie to grant one of his friends one wish they all have the chance of redemption

Torchbearers

Synopsis:
a rollercoaster epic saga told by the people of the South African townships and the South Wales valleys in a cross-cultural performance mixing Drama, music, circus and dance. It tells the story of a young Welsh actor and an African dancer who in 1964 are given the chance of living the dream when they win parts in the film Zulu. as the two young people are drawn closer to each other they find themselves falling in love, but their lives are ripped apart by the apartheid system and they never see each other again until fate plays its hand forty years later. the communities of the South Wales Valleys and the townships of South Africa bring this inspiring love story to life as the massed ranks of Valley voices, musicians and performers join forces with stellar groups from South Africa such as Zip Zap circus, Dance for all, amampondo and the Fezeka Choir to tell both sides of the story.

Mzansi Cymru is A major Arts project spearheaded by Valleys Kids that links the people And communities of the South Wales Valleys And the township of Langa in Cape Town, South Africa, culminating in A large scale theatre performance As part of Wales' Cultural Olympiad happening Alongside the London Olympics in 2012. the project is A large scale, open Access, intergenerational community production written by Laurence Allan with music by Paula Gardiner. It involves local performers Alongside professional Artists Across many Artforms And Activities photography, design, writing, film-making, Art And crafts in South Wales And South Africa over A 4 year period, culminating in A performance called Torchbearers At Wales Millennium Centre in the Donald Gordon theatre, As A co-production with the venue, on Friday 21 And Saturday 22 July, 2012
