Nightingale and the Rose

Synopsis:
The Girl tells the Student that she will go to the ball with him - but he must get her a red rose to go with her pink dress. The Student goes into his garden but cannot find a red rose. A Nightingale hears his lament and touched she goes in search of a red rose. She finds a yellow rose tree and a white one. They tell her there is a red rose tree in the Student's garden but it has not bloomed in years and is covered in weeds. The Nightingale talks to the red rose tree. He says that he will only bloom if the Nightingale kills herself on his thorns. She does this. Next morning the student enters his garden and sees the dead Nightingale and then the red rose. Overjoyed he rushes to the girl with the red rose. The Girl says she does not want it the Chamberlain's Son has given her a diamond necklace and she is going to the ball with him
