Howard altmann is a playwright and poet (Who Collects the Days, 2005) living in New York City. He has taught playwriting at Montclair State University and currently teaches poetry at the Bayview Correctional Facility in Manhattan. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, he studied economics at McGill University and holds an MBa from Stanford University.

Synopsis:
Through the winding alleys of Old Lisbon a random encounter between a retired American teacher searching for his son, and a young violinist searching for his first love, unwind the layers of spiritual yearning and loss. as the young musician yields to forging a bond with his weary fellow traveler, the old man retreats into the patient night of Old Libson in august, leaving the young man alone on a bench in a foreign land, the wails of Fado blanketing the night.

Synopsis:
With a briefcase filled with children's books, Professor John Jr. Johnson arrives unexpectedly after a long absence to his parents' home, demanding his room back. as the repressed environment of the Johnson home is uncorked, tensions come to a head in the urban apartment of Tessa Thompson, whose parents have lost their home and are trying to claim their daughter's apartment as their own. alternating between these two opposite and comedic worlds, The Johnsons & The Thompsons converges on the axis of alienation and primal need.

Poet Handler, The

Synopsis:
Old man Santiago, a self-described poet's poet, sits on the top of a mountain in a secluded stone structure worried that "other poets" are getting wind of his creations. In a comedic allegory to the information age, his assistant Rhusta and sister Ghusta, compete for Santiago's blessing for the title of Poet Handler, as Puzo, the landlord of "the mountain" smells an opportunity to disseminate the simple rhymes to "the masses."

Sunday Monday

Synopsis:
The Economist husband and the Oncologist wife do not know how to love, each other or their daughter, in their well heeled Park avenue apartment. Their cynical acceptance of the status quo is challenged when a secret between the wife and her narcissistic brother is uncovered. The blunt and voluble girlfriend of the brother, who is half his age and seemingly lacking life experience, recognizes the deep sense of isolation of the daughter, takes her in, and offers her hope.
