Charles elgin alverson was born in California in 1935 and grew up in Southern California. after the army (1953 --1956) he attended four different colleges, ending up with a Ba in something obscure called Language Arts. after a short stint in advertising in San Francisco, he moved to New York and became assistANT editor on Harvey Kurtzman's HeLP! Magazine. after being fired for slandering the publisher, he bummed around in various editorial jobs and enrolled at Columbia University's graduate school of journalism. after getting his M.Sc., he returned to the West Coast, working for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Wall Street Journal. In 1969, he decided he'd had enough of legitimate journalism and went to england where he was a correspondent for Rolling Stone. In late 1970 move to Wales where, over the next five years, he restored a corn mill and cottage, fathered three children and published two novels. In 1975, he moved to Cambridge, where did hack writing and published another novel. In the late 1970s, he co-wrote two films with Monty Python's Terry Gilliam: "Jabberwocky" and "Brazil". after publishing one more novel in 1989, he took a job editing a scientific magazine, and in 1994 moved to Serbia where he lives to this day. He is married to Zivana anicin, a Serbian journalist. In recent years, he has started writing plays, some of them short plays for senior theatrical groups. among his unpublished plays is: "Blood is Blood," an adaptation of Tennessee Williams "a Streetcar Named Desire" and "Daddy", a black comedy on the subject of incest.
