Born and raised in Wales, Melisa has been in New York since 2006. Having worked as an actress from the age of twelve in Wales (National Theater, BBC Soap Opera "People of the Valley" to name a few credits) Melisa moved to NY to peruse something a little different, and having found a wonderfully inspiring second home at ESPA, playwriting won top billing. It was as ESPA/Primary Stages that Melisa found her enthusiastic collaborators and inspiring teachers, these include Tessa LeNeve, Winter Miller, Julian Sheppard and Michelle Bossy. Melisa is proud to be working with LongView Theater on her play "Pit" which will be opening at Theater for The New City (2013). Melisa has worked as a script editor for several BBC Drama Documentaries including the Swagman (BBC4 which won much critical acclaim) and has edited several screenplays on Wales. Melisa is the proud recipient of the Rockwell Scholarship at The Einhorn School of Performing Arts which allows her to hone her craft further with the mentors of her dreams. As well as playwriting, Melisa can be seen directing plays around the city and coaching students in Performing the Classical Monologue (this is her favorite pastime!) which she has been doing for several years.
