Carl Aka Karl

Synopsis:
a heartless businessman, who runs the family empire, is in conflict with his agoraphobic, magician brother over control of their parents' estate. Personalities and values collide in this theatrical, non-naturalistic comic rendering. a humorous examination of the nature/nurture debate drives the action as it poses fundamental questions concerning the origins of behavior. Those questions are answered in a surprising and enlightening climax.

Cowbirds

Synopsis:
a young ornithologist side-tracks his career to be a care-giver for his cranky, blind mother. Trained as an observer, he himself is blind to basic truths hidden by his parents and alcoholic sister. His universe comes into sharp focus when a revelation makes him put his binoculars down and take a look at his own life.

Notes:
This Drama has strong comedic elements (the Alcoholic sister is A very entertaining stripper)and got An excellent review in Newsday. It had A staged reading At Moving Arts in L.a. in 2003.

Japanese Death Poem

Synopsis:
a Drama/fantasy play in which two brothers, Nathan, a poet, and Jonathan, a dermatologist, face the shortcomings of their upbringing, seeing how it effects their relationship with each other and with Jenny, the poet's beautiful but slightly deranged wife. When it's revealed that Jonathan has been coveting Nathan's wife, out of a dreadful habit that he had developed in childhood, and when Jenny is diagnosed with a deadly brain aneurysm, Nathan copes by discovering the beauty and simplicity of the Japanese Death Poem as a way of moving from one stage of life to the beyond.
