Queer Dorset Bastard
Synopsis:
Barney Ashton's new verse playlet embroils sex and trains in a part-nostalgic, part-appalled reflection on life for homosexuals in 1950s Britain. Michael isa stationmaster somewhere along a small regional railway threading through Dorset. His life is upended - to shouts of 'queer Dorset bastard' - when he falls for and begins a relationship with a 15-year-old boy. the play combines Michael and lover Rowland's reflections on the affair -which neither can forget - with the comments of Michael's teenage daughter Doreen, who's developing some queer tendencies herself.
