Sara Barker is the artistic Director of Theatre CounterClockwise which was founded in 1995. From 1976-1995 she was artistic Codirector of the Whole Loaf Theatre and wrote all the original shows for that company up to 1994. From 1970-1975 she worked with the Vancouver Street Theatre and Breadbaker's Theatre. She has written more than fifteen plays and pageants which have been produced and toured to audiences through Canada, New england, Western europe, and the Soviet Union. Her work is characterized by a strong narrative voice which echoes elements of old popular fairground forms of Theatre and makes possible a mediation between the performance and the audience in non "Theatre" settings. Her most recent efforts are attempts to explore and extend the subversive and comic possibilities of this narrative voice in Theatre.
