Scott Barry is the author of seven produced plays, answer Man, Curious Yellow, 50 Cars, The Mag Guy, anonymous M., Solo Gig Squared and Sermon in the Suicide. His work has been called, "Hard hitting. In your face," by Dramalogue, "Rich in suspense," by Back Stage West, and "Humorous and insightful," by American Radio Network. He wrote and directed the short-film version of his play, answer Man, selected and screened in the New York Independent Film Festival. He is currently in post-production on his second short film, anonymous M. Scott's solo show, Greener the Grass, a monologue delving into his youthful pursuit of fame in professional sports, combined elements of poetry, modern spoken-word and live music, and was nominated by the Bay area Theatre Critics Circle for solo performance of the year. The San Francisco Bay Times called the show "Funny and poignant. a brilliant Joycean reverie," the San Francisco Bay Guardian, "Engrossing. a beautifully written and constructed jazz riff," the Oakland Tribune, "Compelling," San Jose Mercury News, "Hilarious," and the San Francisco Chronicle, "The stop-time power of a perfectly thrown spiral." He recently wrote and directed the play, Sermon in the Suicide, loosely based on the 1996 Mt. Everest tragedy, at the Strasberg Theatre in Los Angeles. Back Stage West said of the play, "Like Everest, Sermon contains beautiful peaks, artfully straddling awe and egoism." Mr. Barry studied at the American Conservatory Theatre (aCT) in San Francisco, and holds a B.S. in Engineering from the University of California, Davis, where he was an all-American quarterback and NFL Draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
