Andrew M. Bell is an award-winning poet, fiction writer and playwright whose work has appeared in Australia, New Zealand, England, Israel and the USA. A New Zealander by birth, Andrew lived in Western Australia from 1988 to 1995. He has also lived for shorter periods in Brisbane and Melbourne. While living in Perth, Andrew completed a BA with a double major in Theatre Arts and Creative Writing from Curtin University. This training honed his skills as an actor, playwright and director. Andrew's plays include "Mask" (one-act), "A Busload of Faith (one-act), "The Surrender of Simon Sadwell (one-act), "Horrorshow" (one-act), "Shadows on Glass" (experimental) and "The Reluctant Messiah" (two-act). He has also written a teleplay, "A Friend for Mrs Bun", and some scripts for NZ children's television. In October 2007, his play "The Reluctant Messiah" was chosen as one of three to be workshopped by La Mama Theatre, Melbourne, and presented as a rehearsed reading in front of an industry panel. Unfortunately, due to a family illness, Andrew was forced to withdraw from the process, but he considers it an honour to be selected since he is a fan of La Mama's ethos and cultural significance
