Amy Bird writes in a range of media, focussing on novels and plays. She is currently undertaking her Creative Writing MA at Birkbeck College, including studying playwriting under Colin Teevan. Her play An Evening to End All Evenings, devised for the SEDOS 6 Plays, 7 Days festival, was performed at the Winterflood Theatre in March 2012. Her short play Press 1 for democracy was long-listed for the 2012 Windsor Fringe Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing. Also in 2012, her first novel Identity Crisis (as yet unpublished) was short-listed for both the Beak Books Novel Writing competition and The Novel Prize. She graduated from the Faber Academy selective six-month course 'Writing a Novel'. Amy's dramatic fantasia on two classical song cycles, Heart of Time, in which her original dramatic monologue interweaved with the songs of Madeleine Dring and Gian Carlo Menotti, premiered at the Rosemary Branch Theatre in November 2012.

Heart Of Time

Synopsis:
Blurring the edges between music and theatre, Dramatic monologue meets chamber opera, love meets mortality, and black widow meets bag lady as two women battle against Time to save their true identities. Inspired by the song cycles of Madeline Dring and Gian Carlo Menotti, cabaret artist and actor Marysia Trembecka joins forces with experienced soprano Anne Wright, and international pianist William Hancox in the World Premiere of a new work by up-and-coming writer Amy Bird.
