Jessica Bowser has been writing, producing, and observing theatre for the past eight years in New York City. Prior she lived and wrote in Pittsburgh, Pa where she earned her BFa from Point Park University and co-founded Women's Work, a play festival of new work by and about women. Her multi-media plays fuse the abstract beauty, intrigue, and collage-like nature of performance art with the cohesiveness of story or plot present in more traditional theatre. Her work is often fragmented and non-sequitur moving effortless between reality, dream, and fantasy; when produced it is aesthetically captivating and mentally challenging without containing superfluous spectacle or being conceptually impenetrable. Jessica's work has received funding from The Heinz Foundation, The Queens Council on the arts, and The Puffin Foundation. She is a founding member and current Producing associate of Confluence Theatre Company. Produced works include: The Battle of the Thin Red Line, Through the Broken Glass, Relationship analysis 101: Sex Marriage and Roadkill (co-written with T. Protulipac), Wheel of Becoming, and It's about Time which was hailed "an ingenious mini-spectacle that combines live theatre with electronic music and both live and pre-taped video to create the surreal deconstruction of a depressed young man's personal epiphany" by nytheatre.com.
