Boa
'I told the guy sometimes your arm around my neck felt like. . .a feather boa. . .and sometimes it felt like a big ol' snake. Squeezing the life outta me.' One transatlantic marriage. Three continents. Two wars. Boa is an acerbic, warm and honest account of a husband and wife whose relationship spans thirty years of love, laughter, addiction, and warfare.

Bud Take the Wheel I Feel A Song Coming On
Deep in the English countryside, a small village, a gay son, a daughter who won't speak and a thatcher who hates Thatcher collide under the looming presence of a defunct paper mill in a darkly comic drama. Bud Take the Wheel is an exceptionally written tale of a family at odds with itself and the changing world. At its heart is the wish of every young person who grew up rural anywhere - the need for flight, the wish to escape. Bud Take the Wheel chews up rural entrapment, spits up countryside cliches and writes a twisted love song to our green and pleasant land

Hi Vis
Lesley Hart plays the mother of a teenaged girl with severe mental problems. After these become too much for the family, she is put into an under-funded institution. This proves too much for the girl, who has particularly negative emotional reactions every time that her parents visit. Their solution is to dress as clowns, making some symbolic comments about the system that makes such actions necessary- Philip Fisher, British Theatre Guide

Pachamama
Synopsis:
This is something if an oddity, apparently featuring a family of unorthodox Gods and particularly Capital, a previously unknown deity. We see them struggling to come to terms with poverty and pinning their hopes on a magical Golden Child.
Notes:
In four years, Theatre Uncut has become established as one of the Fringe highlights. With a serious political agenda and a fund of excellent playwrights, it succeeds far more often than makes sense given its brief to create rapid response pieces. The first programme in 2014 gave the writers a theme of "Knowledge is power. Knowledge is change". The company also sought a fresh venture and the intention is to develop the five short pieces (average 15 minutes) into a single play that will eventually tour. In the meantime, Hannah Price directed a quartet of actors in the Traverse Bar. Each of Jade Anouka, Nalini Chetty, Finn den Hertog and Iain Robertson has several moments to shine during an enjoyable and challenging 75 minutes.

Spine
Spine charts the explosive friendship between a ferocious, wise-cracking teenager and an elderly East End widow. Mischievous activist pensioner Glenda is hell-bent on leaving a political legacy and saving Amy from the Tory scrapheap because there's nothing more terrifying than a teenager with something to say. In this era of damaging coalition cuts and disillusionment, has politics forgotten people? Can we really take the power back? Amy is about to be forced to find out.
Notes:
[Underbelly, Cowgate, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 31 Jul 2014] Theatre Uncut co-artistic director Emma Callander said, "theatre Uncut was created to raise debate and galvanise action around political issues that affect all of our lives. We do this by making our plays available to as many people as possible. "We feel honoured to be working with writers of such high calibre and it thrills me that performances of these powerful short plays will be happening simultaneously across the world, from Scarborough to South Africa. "With the continued cuts to public services in the UK against a landscape of civil unrest and enforced austerity across the world, the need to speak out in resistance is stronger now than ever before."
