British born, Australian based, Julia Britton (27-06-14  05-11-2012) worked as a journalist and university teacher before she became a playwright. Her plays have had productions at, New Theatre, Griffin Theatre [Sydney], the Stage Company [Adelaide], the Blue Room [Perth], St. Martin's Theatre, La Mama Theatre, Performing Arts Productions, Fly-On-the-Wall Theatre, Theatreworks with workshops at Playbox Theatre[Melbourne], Studio 62, Budgie Lung and playreadings at State Theatre of South Australia[Adelaide], with Geoffrey Rush and Melbourne Arts Centre in conjunction with the Golden Summers exhibition [Westpac Gallery], Melbourne Theatre Company and the South Australian Writer's Theatre. Her celebrated play: Miles Franklin and the Rainbow's end was chosen for performance at the San antonio Festival, Texas, produced by the Stage Company of South Australia and also performed at the Festival Centre and more recently at Melbourne's Theatreworks and Perth's the Blue Room [as part of the inaugural Perth Festival]. She has written and adapted numerous plays for Fly-On-the-Wall Theatre including the highly acclaimed site-specific: Lady Chatterley's Lover [seven seasons nationally around Australia], Women in Love [Rippon Lea] Loving Friends [two seasons at Rippon Lea], an Indian Summer [Rippon Lea], I've Danced with a Girl who Danced with the Prince of Wales [Rippon Lea], Good Morning Midnight! [La Mama], Sunset Children [La Mama], Little Lord Fauntleroy [Rippon Lea], Seven Little Australians [Rippon Lea], the Singing Forest [Theatreworks], the Secret Garden [seven seasons including Adelaide], anne of Green Gables [two seasons in Perth and Melbourne], the Yellow Book [Mietta's], Perks [Mietta's], the White Rose and the Blue [Melbourne Town Hall], a Singular Man [two seasons in Melbourne at the Old Treasury Building and the Hong Kong Fringe Festival], the Lost at Chapel Off Chapel and most recently Five Minute Call at Melbourne's iconic the Butterfly Club. She has won the aWGIe Monte Miller award in 1982 for her play exits and entrances and was nominated for a Green Room award for her short play: In Transit [produced at St. Martin's Theatre] in 1995. Other plays include: Orlando, the Professor, Siegfried Idyll, Hello Last Page of My Life, Magdalena amati, Listening to Shells, Somehow the Times Passes, the Children, the Professor, If You Don't See It It's Not there, a Stroll Down Geranium Street, the Purple Kangaroo, the Merry Go Round, Snake, a Cloudless Sky, erotica in Black and White, the Man Who Loved Furs, the Children, the Bottom Line, Internet Baby, Into the Clouds, the House in Paris, Two Sisters, Lord arthur Savile's Crime and Rose. Her music Theatre includes: Faith Folk and Fun [at the National Gallery of Victoria] and the Music of Milhaud [two seasons at the University of Adelaide and the National University Canberra], Robert Burns: the Ploughman's Poet and Lord Byron - Child of Scotland were produced at the Scottish Festival at the Opera House, Omaru in New Zealand. Synopsis:
a promising young writer interested in prison visiting strikes up a friendship with an attractive prisoner who shows some poetic talent. their intimacy grows, but when the man is paroled earlier than expected and believes she is in love with him, the situation changes to one of violence and horror. Synopsis:
a gay media personality and his attractive partner, a talented and successful graphic artist, who have lived in a happy and stable relationship for six years, decide to attempt to adopt a baby. after trying to find a child through legitimate means, they turn to a third world country and various subterfuges for help, but meet with no success. However an advertisement on the internet leads them to an young, but pregnant street girl (and her bisexual heroin addicted boyfriend) who is only too ready to help them. Synopsis:
a woman flyer who worked as a test pilot for the Nazis is now living in Australia. Bedridden and wandering in her mind, she is writing her memoirs of her career in Germany. Sunset Children

Synopsis:
Maria, a 56 year-old migrant bears a child who is both her son and her grandson. She is persuaded by her daughter-in-law - who is unable to a child - to undergo a new experiment treatment to attempt to reverse the menopause and enable her to act as a surrogate. Maria is swept away in a whirl of publicity. She has become a reluctant feminist icon. Her son and his wife, upset by the media attention, decide to leave the country. But Maria has thought of a way of escape which will also bring her fulfilment.

Whenever You Come, We'll Be there

Synopsis:
Rollo, an eight-year old boy, only child of devoted parents is a dreamer. He often forgets where he is, his mind wanders into a fantasy world. In school, in the middle of class he will drift off, much to the annoyance of his teachers. His essays have a dream like quality that is disturbing. He writes on meeting strange people and these ideas are mixed up with his sex education class information. He takes to wandering through the park on his way back from school, and tells his mother, who is anxious because he is late, that he meets and old man in the park. This alarms her. She forbids him to do this. With the old man, he says is a girl, and a wonderful dog, a white bull terrier which can make magic flights over bushes and trees. His mother does not know if he is dreaming or if this is real.
