All My Sleep And Waking

Synopsis:
'I am not saying I don't wish him peace but he should run through those pearly gates of heaven. If he walks, he'll get caught for something.' All My Sleep and Waking is an ode to the complexity of forgiveness. Who do you forgive? How do you forgive? When is the right time to let go? As a father's death approaches, three siblings argue over differing parental experiences. Two grew up with an alcoholic father and one with a dry drunk father. There is a family struggle to bury the same man, but differing memories leave the feeling that two fathers are being laid to rest.

Australian Gothic

Synopsis:
Clair, an activist and nurse, is being held without charge as she is interrogated by ASIO officer August. Clair's parents, Sonya and Erich, are aging East German immigrants still haunted by life behind the wall. Set in contemporary Orwellian Australia, this play is a fable of tyranny masquerading as protection. It examines the tension between civil liberties and national security, from Hitler's 1933 Enabling Act to the recent introduction of new laws in Australia. Despite history's lessons, Australian Gothic suggests that government-driven fear is still a dominant method of social control, and is capable of paralysing our most intimate relationships.

Permission to Spin

Synopsis:
A black comedy, written for anyone who thinks that children's music is torture. Three men find out find out their music is being used as a torture mechanism, and none of them can agree on what do about it. Carl, a failed rock star turned children's performer wants to go public on the issue. He sees it as an opportunity to re-brand himself as a rock star/moral crusader, like Bono. Carl's agent, Jim, wants to profit by forcing the US Army to pay royalties. Martin, the CEO of the record label, wants all involved to keep it quiet; children's music and torture are a marketing no man's land mix. To force his argument, Martin employs the services of Clint, an unhinged, recently divorced stand over man. To gain compliance, Clint uses a mix of threat, violence, emotional manipulation and neo-con logic, mimicking the tools of torture that created the initial dilemma. The suffering of the victim and the debasement of the perpetrator are experienced by all the players. This play gets its hand dirty with the extremes of self-protectionism and shifting definitions around the use of torture. . .The Wiggles will never sound the same.
