Home Invasion
Synopsis:
Home Invasion is an exploration into stardom and celebrity obsession, in particular focusing in on three incidents from real life: that of obsessive Paula Abdul fan June, who auditions for "American Idol" in an attempt to impress her idol, that of Sam, a young girl who enters a relationship with Anthony, her mechanic that veers towards the dangerous as she grows in her obsession with Anthony to include Carol, his depressed wife who has dreams wherein a ghostly JonBenet Ramsey visits her. The play starts with an interview with Paula Abdul hinting that June's infatuation has gone awry, which is cut into by an Interlude by a cacophony of anonymous online voices lamenting and mocking June's death before launching into the first of three of Sam's "master plans"; an imagined and violent confrontation between a gun-toting Sam and a terrified Carol. The three women's stories continue, with June visiting Anthony's mechanic office to buy a make similar to Abdul's car in her 1991 video "Rush Rush". Sam continues to fetishise her imagined attack on Carol and her life with Anthony post-attack, and Carol's dreams become more vivid and disturbing. As the play ends, Sam convinces Anthony to go on holiday with her as she visits Carol and goes through with her attack, cracking in fear as she leaves Carol for dead. As the play ends, June dies in front of Abdul's house and, a heavenly body, makes her way to heaven where thousands of screaming fans await.

Third Reich Mommie
In the camp tradition of the late sixties psychobiddy genre, Third Reich Mommie is Charles Busch on a day trip to the Grindhouse. Faded film star Bridgette Van Kamp has been a recluse since the second world war ended, relying on the good will and obedience of her daughter Cassidy to get by. But Cassidy's coming into her own: she's 17 and counting, with the inexplicable bloodlust to prove it. Who is Cassidy's real father? And what is the dark secret that lies beneath her mother's refusal to leave the house? Featuring some of Melbourne's finest queer theatre makers, Third Reich Mommie aims to titillate and terrify. Whatever happened to Baby Jane? She died in jail. Now meet Cassidy and Bridgette.
