B.J. Burton is the author of several full-length plays including Lobelia Lodge, the Color of November, Room For Love, For the Record and the Dangers of Lightning. Her plays have been produced and/or developed at Interact Theatre Company, Hedgerow Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Source, Pittsburgh New Works Festival at City Theatre, Six Women Playwriting Festival at the Manitou art Theatre, the Brick Playhouse, and Widener University, among others. Honors include two fellowships from Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a finalist designation for the Heideman award at Actors Theatre of Louisville and a semifinalist in the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. Before discovering her passion for writing, she worked as an actor for over 20 years. She received her B.A. in Theatre from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and continued with post-graduate work at American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and Villanova University. She received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing at Rosemont College. She has taught playwriting and acting at several colleges. Memberships include the Dramatists Guild, aea and SaG.

Lobelia Lodge
Synopsis:
On the first weekend of summer, elsie and her friends meet at their cabin in the woods. as elsie repairs the dilapidated retreat, the other women become too distracted by their own problems to get involved. elsie hammers away at loose siding, while her best friend, Diane, drinks wine coolers. During art Night, when all the women celebrate their artistic pursuits, the women-only weekend is disrupted when two mysterious men emerge from the woods. as elsie tries to deal with her unmistakable attraction to one of the men, she is forced to face the real reason for the gathering. as old and new wounds resurface, conflicts erupt between the pull of the past and need to let go. elsie discovers the fate of the lodge as she rediscovers the importance of friendship.
