Daniel Bye: I juggle with comedy and tragedy, roughness and polish, truth and lies. I wrestle down big ideas about the world until they're small enough for us all to swallow. I wANT you to laugh, cry, gasp and change the world. Because we're all part of history, and that means we can all change it. I've trained with Philippe Gaulier, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre Studio. I've made work for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Red Ladder, Pilot Theatre (and myself). You can insert the words "among others" at the end of every sentence in this paragraph. I am an associate artist of aRC Theatre, Stockton-on-Tees. the Times has described me as "part of the future of British Theatre". My work has been described as "almost perfect" by the Scotsman; "near perfect" and "genius" by the Stage; "Fantastic" and "excEllent" by the Herald; and "stylish", "terrific" and even "intelligent" by the Guardian.

#TAG2012
Synopsis:
"For the last six months, Daniel Bye and I have been secretly writing a play for all the world to see. #tag2012 is a durational Drama, unfolding in real time, existing, at the moment, entirely through social media and the internet. Since roughly September 2011, we have been tweeting unadvertised as various different characters on Twitter. Slowly a story has been emerging from these characters. Some of them have blurred into the non-fictional world, interacting with real people, or being taken as real. I wont list who the characters are; we want people to stumble over them. What do we know? People are disappearing. Mark Yates is the only person who sees the pattern. the government is unconcerned. Of course they are, because Mark Yates is a crank. Or is he? But still people are disappearing: Katherine Rusholme, Crabapple, Trudi Weller, Tam Jones, Sabrina Adeoye, Sarah Fry, Jennie Harris, Anna Foster, Penny Bowles, Brian Jonson, Nick Mercer, Bartley Castle, the list of the disappeared goes on and on. #Tag2012 is a Pilot theatre production in collaboration with Marcus Romer." - http://www.danrebellato.co.uk/Site/Plays/entries/2012/3/11_tag2012.php

Full Of Noises
Synopsis:
a spellbinding exploration of Shakespeare, inspired by the comic characters in the Tempest. Returning to the magical island of the Tempest, Stephano and Trinculo have been enlisted on the not at all dangerous or life-threatening mission of retrieving a book of magic for their master, the sorcerer Prospero, and to take it back to Milan. Waking with an almighty hangover, they try to piece together the calamitous happenings of the night before, which had something to do with a bottle, a book and a monster. arriving at the conclusion that last night Caliban, the monstrous son of the witch Sycorax, must have taken the book, they do some serious retracing of steps, some more serious drinking and then some serious thinking. But when they do eventually find him, Caliban warns that if they try to leave the Island with the book disaster is sure to follow. Created for a teenage audience the production uses clown techniques, live music and story telling to tap into the Tempest's key themes of power and responsibility. as in Shakespeares theatre the theatrical style develops out of the traditions of medieval voice plays, folk story telling and minstrelsy. Through the world of Trinculo and Stephano it provides a refreshing new way of encountering characters and sequences from the play and also functions as a more genEric introduction to Shakespeares language.

Price Of Everything, The
Synopsis:
How much is beauty worth? What will people pay for an air guitar on eBay? Can I have a glass of milk? these urgent questions and others are answered in the Price of everything, a stand-up lecture about value. Daniel Bye's whistlestop tour of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments is occasionally shambolic and often tendentious - but always a joy to watch. Comic, provocative, and possibly a tiny bit sad, this show is a must if you've ever wondered about the difference between the price of an object and its value. and you get a free glass of milk.
