Leon James Bynum is the Executive Director and a founding member of the Harmony Theatre Company. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Bynum is a graduate of Columbia University where he majored in African-American Studies and was the recipient of the prestigious John Kluge Fellowship award for academic Excellence, as well as other national honors. While at Columbia, Mr. Bynum also studied music and theatre. Having directed, performed, choreographed, designed, produced, and written for various theatres all over the United States, he is a veteran of over one hundred productions.

Richmond: a Musical Fantasia is a comedic pop and R&B musical that tells the story of a group of students at a high school in suburban Richmond, Virginia. a two act musical, it is set in March 1997 and it is both a satiric look at the culture of the late Nineties and the American South, as well as a send-up of the hometown high school experience. It addresses class, race, and sexuality issues, as diffused through the lens of high school.
