Currently David is developing original sitcom ideas solo and together with writing partner Richard Hurst. BEING JULIAN was optioned by Objective Productions. Artistic and Executive Director of London's New Diorama Theatre, David Byrne is a playwright and theatre director whose first play won a Writers Guild New Writing award in 2004. David's A STROKE OF GENIUS, was co-produced by Pleasance Theatres for the Edinburgh Festival and was presented as part of Arts Council England's Escalator showcase as well as being awarded the Charlie Hartill Fund for emerging artists. THE DARK ROOM, has seen David nominated for Best Director by the Off-West-End Awards and was Critics Choice in Time Out. In 2011 David was one of the winners of BBC Writers Room national script contest Laughing Stock; and currently has several scripts under commission with BBC Television. His most recent shows have received Critics Choice in The Times and won the Enfant Terribles Prize. In 2013 KUBRICK CUBED which David wrote and directed garnered 5 star reviews at Edinburgh Festival where it played in the Pleasance Courtyard. As a founding member of New Diorama Theatre, based just off Regent's Park, David's programme has been awarded two Peter Brook Awards; the first for establishing a central London home for ensemble theatre, and the second for its support of young NDT associate theatre company, The Faction. The small theatre is currently in its fourth successful year having welcomed over 100,000 audience members.

24 Hour Play!

Synopsis:
A unique platform of new short plays by Britain s brightest emerging theatre makers, entirely created in just 24 hours. For the seventh year running, Old Vic New Voices (OVNV) partner with the 24 Hour Play Company and IdeasTap to discover the next generation of theatrical talent in a grand theatrical experiment like no other. A company of twenty one actors, six writers, six directors and six producers aged between eighteen and thirty will be challenged to create six brand new short plays from scratch in just twenty four hours. From the playwrights' first ideas, to casting, rehearsals, prop sourcing, the lighting design and sound effects, everything must be completed in one day, ready to be staged in front of more than one thousand VIPs and members of the public, on the Old Vic's one hundred and ninety three year old stage.

Universal Machine, The

Synopsis:
the Universal Machine tells Alan Turing's dense life story from his school days at Sherbourne, his time at the infamous Station X at Bletchley Park during World War Two, and his arrest for homosexuality and tragic death. This complex re-examination of Alan's life and work tells the story of a man who could make machines think but struggled to make connections with those around him.
