Synopsis:
a three-act kitchen-sink Drama about the Colbys, a typically dysfunctional American family dealing with a rather atypical problem: the dead are coming back to life. Generation
Synopsis:
ForePlay is Flux Theatre Ensemble's annual exploratory staged reading series where playwrights riff on the themes of Flux's main production. Human 2.0 riffed on August Schulenburg's play about the next step in human evolution, DEINDE. Over three nights, Flux presented short plays by 14 playwrights imagining what various human senses will look like in the future. What if we had the capacity to smell like a dog? Use radar like a bat? See all the colors of the electromagnetic spectrum? How will we upgrade our sense of beauty and justice? What will happen when we truly have unlimited memory? All of these short plays explore what it means to be human in an era of rapid technological change.

Reckoning Of Kit & Little Boots, The
Synopsis:
as Christopher Marlowe lies bleeding to death from a fatal knife-wound to the face, his life flashes before his eyes (or, rather, eye). His host for this journey is his own personal Mephistopheles, a character about whom he never got the chance to write: the infamous Roman emperor, Caligula. the Reckoning of Kit & Little Boots is a fiery, impassioned, hallucinatory, comedic, and ultimately poignant exploration of the art of writing, of what it is that calls an author to a particular subject, and of the dangers that lie in the obsessions of a creative mind.

Temple, The, or, Lebensraum
Synopsis:
THE MISSION: You're inside the sunken, pulverized body of the German-commissioned submarine, U-401, after fighting like hell for a country you're not sure you believe in anymore. It's the Spring of 1943. The world is at war above your head, but you're 200 meters below the surface of the ocean. 2 million pascals of force squeeze the vessel around you, conspiring to crush you beyond all recognition. You're surrounded by your dead fellow crewmen. The battery is dying. The oxygen is running out. And there's a monster on board with you. The Temple, or, Lebensraum updates Lovecraft's original story (which details the increasingly supernatural horrors experienced aboard a sunken submarine) to the middle of WWII, specifically the Black Spring a period describing the seemingly sudden reversal of fortune for Germany's once unstoppable U-boat force. he Temple, or, Lebensraum is also based on the logs and memoirs of the few U-boat captains and crewman that survived a war with an almost 80% casualty rate for German sub-mariners. The play examines the severe tensions between the Nazi Party and the Kriegsmarine (The German Navy), the insanity of WWII and Nazism, and the engulfing madness one man experiences when put in a position of absolute power.
