John holds a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in performance from arizona State University where he studied with acclaimed Theatre director Marshall W. Mason and partook in several resident workshops with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company. In 2009, John will serve as an intern for Richard Foreman and Ontological Hysteric Theatre in New York City. He and PTW are the recipients of a grant from p.A.v.e., the Arts entrepreneurship program of the ASU School of Theatre and Film as well as a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts. His work has been presented at the Theatres at 45 Bleecker Street in NYC as part of the New York International Fringe Festival, Desert Rose Theatre, the Mesa Arts Center, Chyro Arts Venue, and at Space 55 Theatre as part of the Phoenix Fringe Festival. In 2008 and 2009, two additional new works written and directed by John will be premiered in Phoenix including Closet Drama, a dissection of the gay experience framed by the preaching of hate by Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps-Roper and the Westboro Baptist Church's www.godhatesfags.com, as well as eat Your Peas/DIe DIe DIe, a newly devised retelling of Georg Buchner's Woyzeck.

Britney Spears For President: A Pop Culture Disaster

Synopsis:
Meet Cheryl and Steve, a drop dead gorgeous couple that is heavy on looks and light on brains. Cheryl and Steve are hopelessly addicted to everything pop culture and function in a vacuum that is sealed by an unquenchable thirst for celebrity perfection. Cheryl dreams of changing her name to angelina and Steve's name to Brad. Together, Cheryl and Steve rename themselves Brad and Britney (Cheryl compromises and gives up on angelina) and they set out on a quest for pop culture saturation which includes the adoption of foreign babies, unrelenting bouts of exercise and bulimia, repetitive plastic surgeries to correct non-existent problems, and a never ending addiction to tabloid magazines. along the way they are joined by Britney Spears and her dance crew, a villainous Madonna who wants to take over the world, and many other recognizable faces.

ClosetDrama: A Homo/Hetero Collision

Synopsis:
an unnamed boy is trapped in a closet. . . quite literally. Walls surround him on three sides. as he negotiates his own sexuality, he suddenly discovers that he is haunted by the voice of Fred Phelps, the founder of Westboro Baptist Church and godhatesfags.com. Worse, he discovers that his real mother has been replaced by a surrogate mother. . .. Shirley Phelps-Roper, extreme advocate against homosexuality and fallen soldiers. Mom attempts to convert her son via electroshock therapy and other loving and delicate techniques.

Shots: A Love Story

Synopsis:
the piece is a semi-autobiographical abstraction of the author's experiences with alcoholism. Set in an arcade shooting gallery during the winter of a very bad year when rooms spun and organs failed, SHOTS follows a woman through the ups and downs of the abusive relationship that is her addiction.
