Angus Ceriniis a writer, performer, director and producer. He has created, performed and toured numerous solo works within Australia and internationally. as a writer his work has been commissioned and/or produced by companies including Playbox, Melbourne Workers Theatre, Arena Theatre Company and Platform Youth Theatre. He has been nominated for the Wal Cherry Play of the Year award, long-listed for the Vogel Australia Literary award, been nominated for numerous Melbourne Green Room awards, and has been awarded an Re Ross Trust award, is the co-winner of the St Martins Young Playwrights' Prize and is co-winner of the Patrick White Playwrights' award. He is a carer for Regina and Lou Lou, Isa Brown laying chooks, and supports his family with produce grown in the backyard.

19 Trains

Synopsis:
Writer's notes: a young man performed in a play I had written. His extraordinary skill was indisputable. His illness closed the season early. the season was remounted. He escaped from hospital to come each night, another cast member stealing him away. He weighed 35kg when I saw him at the conclusion of that visit when the show finally died. . . and yet he did not, could not. We sat at his kitchen table sometimes, his books on ancient medicine scattered around . . .. the devices and implements . . .. his own punctured body testament to how far we had come . . . and illustrating in his liberal use of any substance that would stem the flow of pain and suffering, how we had remained the same . . .and in some ways how we had in fact turned our back on sense . . .. on truth and sense. Ultimately he had a life that was not worth living, and he took it by letting a train roll over him. I was glad, I understood, I pondered his choice and then I met Ron. Ron, a man in slippers who in his thirty-year career driving trains had 'killed' nineteen people. as he fed possums by the train line in inner suburban Melbourne, my partner Rachel and I watched his dilapidated voice break through into a confusion and the only sense he was able to tell us, or the only truth he could publicly display was that of the possums he fed and their war with a certain white rabbit. a white rabbit that he could see, but we could not. My confusion as to what Michael had done was immense, and without thinking, I wrote this play. . . then another. . . then another. Not one version of them did enough for what Michael had endured, nor explained for me the small matter of Ron.. . . I like to think that in some small way, this play may allow us all to question and ponder and wonder at this strange beast we call life. Michael, I don't blame you, I never really did. and this play can describe why not.

Bleeding Tree, The
In a dirt-dry town in rural Australia, a shot shatters the still night. A mother and her daughters have just welcomed home the man of the house - with a crack in the shins and a bullet in the neck. Based on real characters seen on the streets of Melbourne, Save for Crying explores how the universe can provide in ways we do not even dare to imagine. Unless of course those who do imagine are the very ones we steer clear of, cross the street away from; the outcasts we never listen to anyway. Imagine if that single strange human we ignore held the secrets to our dilEmma we know as life? This damned blessing we know of as life. Imagine if they knew how the secrets of the universe could save us all? Perhaps it truly is those who are the most crazy who are the ones that are the most sane. and perhaps life really is as simple as love and crying. Love and crying; and a place to eat and sleep the drink of love.

Wretch

Synopsis:
Wretch looks at the relationship between a mother and her son, at love in all its ugly and brilliant forms. Set within visiting hour in the juvenile detention facility where he is living, the young man struggles to comprehend the manner of his crimes while she tentatively tries to reconcile her own story.
