Garth's working life has been the managing of large sheep properties in Tasmania and Victoria. While at Ross, in Tasmania, he wrote the musical: "The Man Of Ross", the story of the convict-built bridge. Later he wrote: "Will Shakespeare", a musical of Shakespeare's arrival in London. Work in progress: "Ernest!" A modern musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde's famous play.

Man Of Ross, The
Synopsis:
The year is 1835. Convicts Daniel Herbert, Mary Witherington and Norah Corbett have been sent to Van Dieman's Land to redeem themselves - in Hobart they are separated. Daniel clashes with Jorgen Jorgenson of the Field Police and is sent to Ross to work on the new bridge. There are hints at a pardon if the Bridge is finished in time. Jorgenson has other ideas. Cast number is 12 plus chorus.

Will Shakespeare
Synopsis:
Shakespeare, arriving in London with a passionate desire for acting is befriended by another playmaker, Christopher Marlowe, and Lord Harry (Earl of Southampton). They are both agent provocateurs for the Earl of Essex. After Marlowe's death by stabbing, Shakespeare replaces Marlowe as Master Playmaker, and is established with Lord Harry as Patron. Rosie, a servant in Lord Harry's household, wins Will's affections and Will is infatuated. The plot to usurp the throne by Essex and Southampton is thwarted by Will, who finds that Rosie is employed by the two Earls to spy for them. Will abandons them and returns to his true friends in the theatre, but goes back to Stratford to finish his plays.
