Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Angelica Chéri is an NYC-based playwright and performer, and the Associate Artistic Director of Marketing & Communications of The Fire This Time Festival. Her play Slow Gin Fits was featured in Season Five of the Festival. She is currently a Deans Fellow of the NYU Tisch Musical Theater Writing Program, and holds a BA in Theater from UCLA and an MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. Her Columbia thesis play Ruby Place Nest on the Ground was recently workshopped at the Pershing Square Signature Center and at the D.C. Black Theater Festival. It will be produced in the Spring of 2014 at the Billie Holiday Theater in Brooklyn, under the new title of The Seeds of Abraham, directed by Reginald L. Douglas. She was mentored on the piece by Lynn Nottage.
