I am a minister, author, and publisher, born, raised, and living still on the Illinois prairie. I have a BA from the University of Illinois (summa cum laude) and an MA from Trinity Theological Seminary (endorsed by Canterbury Christs Church University College, Canterbury, England) and an MDiv from Trinity. My last childrens book, The Green Children, is the Literary Classics 2017 honoree for best childrens storybook. I am widely read in childrens fantasy literature and frequently lecture on authors such as J. M. Barrie, Rider Haggard, Dickens, Charles Kingsley, Kipling, L. Frank Baum, Lewis Carroll, etc. Currently, I am producing A Christmas Carol, which is scheduled for eight performances in Champaign, Illinois in December.

Green Children, The
Green Children, The
The Green Children is based on a 12th-century English legend about two green children, a boy and girl, who emerged from a hole in the ground near Woolpit, England. I turned this legend into, first, an illustrated childrens story, then a musical play. The play might be characterized as a Celtic Wizard of Oz involving the Otherfolk (brownies, gnomes, hobgoblins, faeries, and the green children) and the villain, Squire Scrum. There are 12 songs built on beautiful, traditional Celtic airs, a Riverdance-type reel, an enchantment or two, a battle scne, some slapstick, laughter, suspense, love, and dreams. Although this is a new title in the field of childrens fantasy theatre, adults loved it the same way adults love The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. This is a wonderful play based on an overlooked legend that has all the elements needed to delight an audience. I am looking for an agent/representation for myself and the play. Please e-mail me for script, video clips, and further information.
Notes:
Stage was divided into two fixed sets. A 14 tree was on the forest side; an interior wall that served as a living room space and kitchen on the other side. A portable shed was the only other major prop. We used a four-piece ensemble (piano, violin, guitar, percussion) for music. We staged 7 performances to full houses in September and the response exceeded our wildest expectations.
