His work is often either for young casts and audiences, or for the amateur stage. after working for Arts organizations and theatre companies, he has been freelance since 2003. He runs workshops on writing and directing with students, teachers and amateur actors. He works across the UK from his home in Dorset.

Boy at the Edge of the Room, The

Synopsis:
A boy called Tony struggles to fit in and find his place. He has a different way of looking at the world and longs to retreat to place where he can be ''nothing more than small and far off'. Those surrounding him have little patience for his dreams, with the exception of his mother who will do anything to ensure his happiness. Then a mysterious 'dealer' offers Tony the chance to make his dream come true, his mother must face a future without him, and the audience is forced to confront an unsettling and moving ending. The Boy At The Edge of the Room is a fairytale for adults, inspired by Lucy Clifford's 1882 story Wooden Tony. It focuses on a character who displays many of the classic traits of those on the autistic spectrum. It is a beautiful and moving examination of difference and acceptance, brought to life through song, movement and puppetry.

Face: The Play

Synopsis:
This play is based on Benjamin Zephaniah's popular novel for young people. Martin is a popular boy, a rough diamond, a jack the lad. His life changes through a single mistake and his world is turned upside down by facial injury. The play tracks the lead up to, and fallout from the critical event. Though designed for teenaged casts, there are complex dramatic conventions in this play, including the central character being split into three elements.

Notes:
Face: The Play has been written to be suitable to A whole class or A sizeable youth theatre. There Are A good number of decent male parts in this play, but many of the parts Are Actually gender-neutral.

Hench

Synopsis:
Dave is an English & Drama teacher who unwittingly gets caught up in being a henchman on the facility of a criminal mastermind. Drawing heavily on the Bond/spy-movie franchises, the play gives a voice to those characters who never usually speak, those who only 'hench'. Needless to say, Dave's English & Drama training help to save the day and he even gets the girl after turning off the deadly sonic frequency modulator and thwarting the evil Malaxis empire. a two act play with six main characters and scope for many more in a second version.

Notes:
This play is Available to small (6) professional companies, but I think it will Appeal more to Amateur theatre groups. With this in mind I have developed two versions: one has six speaking parts, 3M, 2F And 1 which is flexible. The second version has these same six main parts but is more 'peopled' with much smaller parts.

Hope Springs

Synopsis:
set in the near future in a privately run correctional facility for young people, a crisis has occurred. during the course of the play we find out what has happened to spark a revolution and how the young people have delivered a form of retribution

Paving Paradise

Synopsis:
This play was developed with young people from Lyme Regis. It tries to articulate complex notions of our relationship with the natural world with equal measures of drama, charm and humour. Paving Paradise is made up of three distinct strands: The sombre musings of a local aged oak tree, a group of 6 students who have to prepare an environmental project in one week, The new myths which the students invent to try to explore the theme. all three strands come together at the close of the piece after the least likely student has what can only be called a metaphysical epiphany with the tree, which is taken, by the others, as just another invented myth. By the close of the play the story has spread and the final scene sees the students facing national press, believers and sceptics. In what I think is a bold move, the final lines of the piece are delivered not as characters, but as the young participants themselves, speaking directly to their audience.

Notes:
This play can Accommodate A cast of between 15-50+ because of its flexible structure. It is Also (I think) totally gender-neutral. A single sex cast could tackle this play with ease.

Whispers In The Graveyard

Synopsis:
Whispers..'is an adaptation of the popular Theresa Breslin novel. Designed for teen casts, the play nevertheless has complex conventions within it. at the local graveyard, which is Solomon's refuge, a tree has been removed and an ancient evil has been released. Battling both this evil and his own challenges at school and home, the story sees Solomon face his fears in many ways.

Some parts within the play Are gender neutral And the structure of the play means many parts can be Accommodated.
