Jenny Connell is a Brooklyn-based playwright and teacher, and a member of Ars Nova's 2010-2011 Play Group. She grew up in coastal Maine, received her Ba from the University of Chicago and her MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. She has performed with Court Theatre, Steppenwolf, and the Rude Mechs. Her plays have been produced or developed in Chicago, Austin, Colorado, Montana, Massachusetts, and New York City. She has been a finalist or semi-finalist for the Heideman award, Hedgebrook, the O'Neill, Bay area Playwrights Festival, and the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference.

Colony
Synopsis:
Set in the not-so-distant-future, "Colony" is the story of how modern civilization, corrupted by a power-mad politician and poisoned by a plague of acute amnesia, came to an end. Part tragic myth, part comedic allegory, the story is told by the few who have survived.

Portrait
Synopsis:
a full-length fictional portrait of painter Alice Neel. Neel was a bohemian and a button-pusher, a member of New York's art scene from the 1920s until her death in the 1980s, and the first woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum. Set in the 1960s, the play examines her rise to prominence, and how it tested the relationship she had with her sons, who appeared frequently in her work.

Summer People
Synopsis:
During the summer of 2003, seeking to recover from her recent divorce, Kate takes her daughters to their summer home in a remote part of coastal Maine. But with her older daughter on the verge of adulthood, her younger daughter videotaping their every move, and her neighbor interested in romance, Kate may have more on her plate than she can handle. When a veteran of the Iraq war arrives at the nearby campground, global events rush in as fast as the oncoming tide.
