Cecilia Copeland is a Midwestern Latin Catholic-Jew who is mostly agnostic except for her childhood steeped in ritual and her love of the beauty in life. Her play, Light of Night has an upcoming Production at IaTI Theater Directed by Padraic Lillis. the play was developed at New Dramatists and Arts/West. 'the Wicked Son' a Passover Play, was in Friday Night Footlights at the Dramatists Guild Directed by John Gould Rubin. She was a Semi-Finalist for Seven Devils Playwright's Conference and the David Calicchio emerging Playwright's Prize. Cecilia is the winner of the Lennis J. Holm Scholarship Playwriting award, Best New Play at Stage Left Productions, and a GrANT from Metro Screen AustraliA. Her work has been produced by the University of Iowa, Marietta College, and she has an upcoming staged reading at Shorter University. She's had Showcase Productions at 13th Street Rep, Dark Luna, and the anarchist Theatre Festival of Montreal. Her plays are published by PM Press and the International Center for Women Playwrights. She is a Graduate of the StElla adler Studio where she teaches Script analysis. She holds a Theater Ba with Honors, emphasis in Playwriting from the University of IowA. Cecilia is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the Founder and artistic Director for New York Madness.

Biolife
Synopsis:
In a future where a terrible tragedy has robbed the confidence and hope from America, the country strives to regain itself as told through the story of one man. Ignacio is the best donor to the program of Biolife, a newly government sponsored program which promotes a happy life through the use of artificial emotions. Prom Queens and Prisoners donate their happiness ,which gets watered down and sold to the public at large. Ignacio must decide if living in the real world is better than a false one, and whether he can find a way to be a man with or without his father's approval.

Courting
Synopsis:
Madelyn Vogelle is post-divorce, pre-Med school, and lonely. a slew of suitors crowd her every step. as she attempts to decipher the princes from the toads, she is helped or hampered by the alter ego and arch nemesis the Cheerleader. a Mysterious Man from her past keeps appearing, but can never stay for very long. Madelyn must pick which ring to take, but she can't do it until she makes peace with her Cheerlearder.

Courting was the Winner of the Best New Play Competition held by SLP. Courting was developed in the Writer's Workshop At the University of Iowa.

Holding Forward
Synopsis:
Liz comes home to America with her girlfriend, and tries to balance a failing relationship with her promising future. Her best friend Scott provides a safe harbor while escaping the turmoil of his own troubled love life. Liz and Scott help each other find a way through the pitfalls of party life, sexual identity, and financial troubles. Relationships end and begin, and for any to last they must defy the rules.

Synopsis:
Light of Night is Stephanie's poetic descent into the dark underworld of marriage. Her charismatic husband and seductive best friend fight over who she should be. This Persephone inspired journey reflects our darkest natures. In the end, Stephanie must decide which windows and doors to leave open for light.

the family cat is our guide on the journey of this sinking ship, which drags us into the underworld of primal relationships between women and men. Synopsis:
the Wicked Son' is a play about love, spiritually, the Middle east, and Gefilte fish. Heavy guilt meets tiara humor when the youngest brother in the family, Saul returns home from serving in the Israeli army with news of his pregnant Palestinian girlfriend. Our Drag Queen Hostess tries to hold the Seder together as each member of the family must make peace with the ghosts of the past wrapped in the politics of today in order to have Passover as a modern, culturally mixed, American family.

Taken from the translated writings of Kaneko Fumiko, Words of a Revolutionary is the chronicle of Kaneko last moments in prison. Her sentence for an assassination attempt on the emperor had been commuted from Death to Life in prison. Kaneko's response was suicide.
