Justin Cornell has written two shows. The first is Nothing's Going To Happen, a play about the end of the world. He directed and produced it at the 2013 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. That production won the Planet Connections award for "Outstanding Sound Design;" it was also nominated for the "Outstanding Playwriting" and "Outstanding Overall Production" awards. HIs second show is Getting Away With It, a collection of short plays. Christina Balkovic directed it for the 2014 Planet Connections festival. Justin's writing is deliberately scattershot: he is inspired mainly by non-theatrical forms: commercials, religious pamphlets, classical myth and oratory, etc. In his work, he tries to transform and reframe these texts for the stage in order to surprise, delight, and provoke the audience. Justin graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2010 with a B.A. in Technical Theatre. Since then, he has worked as a stage manager up and down the East Coast. He has stage managed shows at most of New York's downtown theatres, and he has worked an assistant stage manager at the Florida Repertory Theatre and Virginia's Castleton Music Festival. He lives in New Jersey, where he now runs a semi-monthly play development workshop for writers and actors.
