Andrew has written sixty-five plays including Opium eater, won three Fringe Firsts and a BAFTA (Scotland) for the best radio play of 1985. He has directed some fifty productions in various repertory Theatres. As an actor Andrew has appeared in every Theatre in Scotland, with the exception of Pitlochry. His recent performances in Becketts Waiting for Godot and Krapps Last Tape (Arches, Glasgow) have been widely acclaimed.

Opium Eater
as de Quincey scribbles away in abject poverty, buoyed up by narcotic sustenance, desperately trying to meet deadlines for Blackwood his publisher, he is accompanied by a pickpocket and simpleton, Willy. the brilliant loquacious addict and the affably childish dimwit are drawn together by circumstance and a mutual need. the wonderful mastery of image in the author's work is reflected in the dialogue.

Synopsis:
In 1867, the 29 year old John Muir punctures his right eye in a saw mill accident that changes the course of his life. Thinking he is permanently blinded he realises the enormity of his loss and all the spectacle of nature that he might never see again. This leads him to dark imaginings of the plight of the world and the realisation that we must all work together to prevent it.

Synopsis:
In a biotec lab, two gene scientists accidentally produce a deadly virus. they must be quarantined and isolated as they may well infect the public. Slowly they start to die, going rapidly downhill but as they reach death's door the virus starts to mutate and a 'smart' gene kicks in. they become highly intelligent reaching a place where speech is unnecessary and levitation possible. But in this condition 'the powers that be' decide that they present an even greater threat to public safety. they are in short Too Clever by Half
