Martin A. David is a writer, actor, director, modern dancer, and choreographer, who has performed in major European and American venues. He is a writer and translator who has published 10 books and more than 1000 magazine, newspaper, and online articles. His plays include the Rehearsal, Rules, the Golem, and Leaden Skies (premiere performances in 2008). He began his professional acting career in Julius Caesar, at Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival. More recently he was seen as King alonso in the Mariposa Studio's production of the Tempest, and as Lucio in arclight Theatre's Measure for Measure. He has also performed in Shakespeare's Scottish tragedy, Cymbeline, Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, Richard III, Pericles, and 3 productions of Hamlet. He was recently seen in the major role of Lt. Robert Price in a Bay area tour of Buffalo Soldiers: a Tale Lost. He appears in a major role in the film Teachings of the Disgusting and awful, and in the central role in the Dramatic short film Second Round which will soon be released. Martin is also an Arts activist who has served on the Dance and Multimedia Arts panels of California Arts Council, as a panelist and audition judge for many organizations including Bay area Dance alliance, the San Francisco ethnic Dance Festival, and for Theatre Bay area's Ca$H awards panel. He is also a past winner of the Ca$H grant. He a Commissioner on the Santa Clara Cultural advisory Commission, and is currently serving as Chairman of that body.

Synopsis:
Is this a rehearsal or is it real? Does this rehearsal ever end? the Rehearsal takes a sometimes humorous, sometimes frightening look at the backstage life of two nameless actresses. their rehearsal seems to go on forever. the 20 minute, one-act play is structured for endless repetitions. the premiere performance went on for five hours.
