How Did I Get to This Point?

Synopsis:
How far are any of us from losing our home? Do you know someone who struggles with money? Someone who went through a tough break up? Maybe they drink too much, use risky substances, have lost someone close, lied on a form, fallen ill. But they could never lose their home. . .right? According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation we're all just two pay cheques away from losing our roof. How Did I Get To This Point? is a play based exclusively on research with homeless people. People you may recognise, living through an emotional rollercoaster of hardship that no one should ever have to experience. When affordable housing is scarcer than ever, I>How Did I Get To This Point? asks just how close we all are to a life without a home.

She had everything going for her. A job, a relationship, a family. She was juggling all the things that keep a person's head above water. Feet firmly on the tightrope. We've all felt that. The universe is weird. A lot weirder than you think. Tio's story, your story. An absurd tale of love and loss with a little quantum physics on the side. There's a definite possibility that we're more connected than we know.

Weather to Fly

Synopsis:
What's really going on with Debbie, Joe and Chemical? Weather to Fly is a bitter-sweet story about families, love, friendship and longing. When Joe returns home for the first time since leaving for the army he finds it's not only him that has been forced to deal with the secrets that are only whispered of behind closed doors. His sister Debbie can't explain what goes on inside her head and his best friend Chemical knows more than anyone could have ever imagined. When everything around him slowly falls apart Joe is forced to consider what keeps him from flying. Is it his sister, his heart, a denial of the truth or just a fear to spread his wings in the first place? Secrets come to light when lies slowly unravel but who is it that holds the key? Maybe it's Debbie, maybe it's Joe, it could be the spoon stuck in the toilet or the cloud birds who never shut up. Weather to Fly examines the difficulty of facing up to who you are when all you want is to disappear completely. The play looks at the courage needed to say 'this is who I am' when everyone around you watches as you struggle just to stay afloat. Weather to Fly is a story about having the courage to speak up against the silence.

Notes:
Weather to Fly was festival winner at ARC Stockton's Short Sharp Scripts in May 2012 and presented as Toast as part of Live Theatres final Short Cuts celebration 2013 and has now been developed by Allison Davies into her debut full length play.
