La Befana
Synopsis:
The story of La Befana, the Italian Christmas Witch, began a long time ago in Italia and arrived here with Australias Italians. On the eve of the epiphany, children would hang out their simple home-made socks and then wake on January 6 to find them with filled with simple home-made gifts. In the pagan world she was a goddess, part of the magical, fairy world, patron of plants and animals, an ancestral spirit whose sacred totem is the Woven Stocking - every year reaffirming the bond between family and ancestors.

Synopsis:
In 1875, Adelaide Ristoris five month tour of the Australian colonies, had a significant impact on Australian theatre and culture. Like a fresco that has been forgotten and painted over, when we endeavour to restore it, what do we uncover about the great Diva and more importantly. . . ourselves?
