Lawrence Dial is a playwright and stay-at-home father living in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. He is a resident playwright for the LabRats Theater company, which produced his play HA! HA! in 2011. In a review of his early career one-act, Old Kid Cod, Richard Hinojosa of nytheater.com called Dial a playwright to look out for. His play BEEF was performed as part of the Crown Point Festival at the Abrons Art Center in 2007. Of BEEFs expanded two-act version produced by Slant Theatre Project, Jason S. Grossman of nytheatre.com wrote, BEEF is a powerful new play& 78th Street Lab Theatre has never been put to better use. His play Promise Tomorrow Today won the Best Play award in the 2010 Downtown Urban Theatre Festival, and his 2009 play Hollow Log is a perfect little thriller for the post-Rent New York, where being a bohemian squatter just isnt so cute anymore, says JB Spins. His other plays include: Been Down So Long Looks Like Up To Me (workshopped at the Labyrinth Theatres 2010 Summer Intensive Ensemble), and a current production of Carroll Gardens Aborning at the New York International Fringe Festival. He is the father of two beautiful girls, whom he considers his greatest creation.

Synopsis:
Denny, a smartass stoner, and annie, a millionaire bar owner, are unlikely best friends, living together in a small apartment in the east Village. Denny has been content slacking his way through life, scavenging off annie and her money. . .that is until annie becomes engaged to Ray, an actor who may not be all he claims. Denny, now facing possible homelessness is clueless as always until annie drops what appears to be a giant bag of Smarties in his lap, and mysterious circumstances begin to crystallize. What unfolds involves a drug deal, a disappearance, a strange detective with a bad Russian accent, and a double cross that may or may not be a setup.

When a disgruntled teenager steals the cremations of his recently deceased grandfather, he finds himself unable to run away as planned when his tomboyish younger cousin wakes from sleep.
