Masks

Synopsis:
Young Pierette, an actress with a Renaissance Commedia dell'arte troupe, has replaced her late Father (the company's founder) on stage as Pierrot, a male clown. although she must act a man's part on stage, she loves the real-life, but faithless, Flavio. Ruffina and Scaramouche, who manage the troupe, meanwhile are struggling to save the small theatre company from financial ruin. Other members of the troupe try hard to keep the audiences satisfied, but Flavio's careless flirtations aren't helping matters. Carlo, one of the clowns, warns Flavio to stay away from his sister, Sylvia. Tensions mount between the two men, and Flavio walks off stage in a fury when Carlo "accidently" hits him in the midst of a performance. Scaramouche and the company manage to keep the audience from leaving, too, by improvising a hilarious Commedia piece, and Pierette, left alone on stage amid the applause, makes a surprising revelation. Scaramouche moves among the grateful audience, collecting money as the curtain falls.
