Bullet Catch

Bullet Catch
a stunt so dangerous Houdini refused to attempt it, the Bullet Catch has claimed the lives of at least twelve illusionists, assistants and spectators since its conception in 1613. Now, with a little help from his audience, modern day marvel William Wonder presents a unique theatrical magic show featuring storytelling, mind reading, levitation, games of chance and, if you're brave enough to stay for it, the most notorious finale in show business.

Gyntish Self, The

Synopsis:
a fantastically imaginative retelling of Ibsen's Peer Gynt by a team of up-and-coming Scottish playwrights. Peer's going to have to face up to himself. He's a selfish, cheating loser and no amount of lying will change that. "Timed to coincide with this year's centenary of Ibsen's death, the baby-faced Measureless Liars company have set themselves the ultimate challenge of updating the Norwegian's most audacious epic to a bite-sized 55 minutes. What they've come up with in this soap-opera-style treatment remains pretty faithful, as crotch-led tearaway Peer does a runner as an errant Father to enter a class-bound world of golf playing, Chris de Burgh-loving toffs." - the Herald; "a fun mix of surrealism and naturalism, this play deals with themes of deceit and death, as we follow Peer Gynt around his world of polygamy and bad deeds. . .the piece provokes interesting reactions, causing us to sympathise with the evil protagonist as we start to see elements of him in our daily subconscious and dream lives." - Three Weeks; "a fast-paced piece with a large dose of humour" Scottishtheatre.co.uk

Riot Of Spring, The

Synopsis:
On the 29th May 1913, the Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky premiered at the theatre des Champs-elysees in Paris. Not knowing whether to be more appalled by Stravinsky's uncompromising experimentations in dissonance, tonality, rhythm and meter or by Vaslav Nijinsky's ugly, horizontal, pigeon-toed choreography, the Parisian audience reacted as their instincts told them. they rioted. Stravinsky and Nijinsky, it seemed, had succeeded in achieving the holy grail of art they had created something entirely new. One hundred years on Rob Drummond will work with a dancer and a musician to create a piece that will fuse written narrative theatre with dance and live music. A virgin is sacrificed for the good of a community, a group of tourists dance themselves to death in a city square and an artist drives himself to the brink of insanity in his quest to create something completely original.

Wallace

Synopsis:
Media darling and Scottish national treasure Roberta Bishop chairs an independence debate featuring Conservative MP Sir Edward Hammer, the SNP's Sarah Bailey, journalist Petra Lang and controversial comedian Bruce Carrick. In the audience, Wallace waits patiently to ask his question. . . So begins act one of Rob Drummond's latest work-in-development; a theatrical panel debate where audience participation is encouraged but not mandatory. Audiences are invited to question the panel or just sit tight and see what twists and revelations emerge from the debate. Over the course of three acts, Wallace asks how and why we make decisions; where our principles come from; what our history means to us; and why independence and identity matter, if indeed they really do. Wallace is a staged work-in-development, co-commissioned by National Theatre of Great Britain and The Arches. Developed with support from National Theatre Studio.
